  Teacher Education Programs

Are you interested in becoming certified as a Washington State public school teacher?  The College offers certification and degree programs through the master's level.  For the basic requirements of admission, including printable versions of the applications and requirements, visit the Teacher Education Application Requirement site below.

  Educational & Community Leadership Programs

Thinking about a leadership career?  The College also prepares elementary and secondary school teachers to assume the leadership role of principal or vice principal and offers a bachelor’s degree in human services.   The departmental sites listed below offer more information on these programs.

  Western Washington University Admissions (Requirement)

All applicants to Woodring College of Education teacher preparation programs must be formally admitted to and currently enrolled at Western Washington University or must apply to Western for the same quarter they apply to the Woodring College of Education.  For admission to Western Washington University see the WWU Admissions site, e-mail the WWU Office of Admissions at admit@wwu.edu, or phone them at 360/650-3440.

  Graduate School (Masters Students)

Graduate students must apply to the WWU Graduate School, e-mail at gradschl@cc.wwu.edu, and contact the appropriate department within Woodring College.

  Off-Campus Extension Students

Recognizing that some students must remain in their present careers while seeking professional development, the College offers selected courses online or at off-campus locations such as Bremerton, Everett, Oak Harbor and Seattle.  For more information, visit the Extended Education and Summer Programs (EESP) site.  Or contact EESP by e-mail at Professional.development@wwu.edu for professional development and correspondence options or extended.degrees@wwu.edu for Degree and Certification Programs.

  Scholarship Information

The College offers a variety of general teacher education scholarship awards. Scholarships are available for teacher education students through some academic departments as well.  Visit Woodring's Scholarships site and Western's Scholarship Center for scholarship information.

  Financial Aid Information

Visit Western's Financial Aid Office; or for educational financial aid and loan services, visit the Sallie Mae site, which includes calculators to estimate the cost of college, savings goals, expected family contribution, monthly budgets, and loan payments.  For information regarding forgiveness of some financial aid loans (e.g. Perkins Loan) for new teachers, visit Loans and Collections.  The U.S. Department of Education's Student Financial Assistance site is also an excellent resource.
