Washington State requires individuals
seeking teacher certification to pass a subject knowledge assessment
for each subject area in which they are seeking an endorsement. This assessment is entitled the
Washington
Educator
Skills
Test -
Endorsements
(WEST-E). Students must pass this test
prior to commencing student teaching. The State is in
the process of changing test vendors for the WEST-E.
