Campus School Reunion
Acknowledgements

Woodring College of Education began planning this four-month long celebration of the unique Campus School experience and history in 2004 at the suggestion of Woodring’s Community Leadership Advisory Council. The lasting impact of the Campus School makes it the perfect vehicle to connect current and past faculty, staff, current students, Campus School and WWU alumni, area educators, artists and the community.

Many people deserve thanks for the incredible efforts that are making this event possible, including the members of these central committees:

2007 Reunion Committee, chaired by Curtis F. Smith DDS

Current and past members: Harte Bressler, John "Rob" Calhoun, Bob Funkhouser, Paul Hanson, Janet Knapman Harris, Florence Winsor Helliesen, Bob Morse, Andra Brand Phibbs, Ann Jones Richardson, Marilyn Monahan, Craig Smith, Ruby Smith, and June Hardin Thomas. Also members of and volunteers for the Campus School Legacy Scholarship sub-committee and volunteers: Harte Bressler, Paul Hanson, Mary King, Norma Miller, Curt Smith, Pat Spratlen, June Hardin Thomas.

2007 Campus School Celebration Steering Committee, chaired by Woodring College Associate Dean Michael Henniger. Current members: Mary King, George Lamb, Bob Monahan, Toni Nagel, Susan Trimingham, and Gail Weiss

2007 Exhibit Committee, chaired by WWU Libraries Special Collections Director Marian Alexander.  Members: Tamara Belts, Christine Kendall, Sarah Clark-Langager, and Toni Nagel

Whatcom Museum of History & Art staff:

Toni Nagel, Kathleen Iwersen, Richard Vanderway, Lisa Van Doren (former staff)

WWU Libraries Special Collections: Marian Alexander and Tamara Belts are to be especially recognized for their outstanding support and tireless efforts to collect and document the history of the Campus School through oral histories, written materials and artifacts, as well as produce the Campus Schooler newsletters and the history website: www.thecampusschool.com.

WWU students:

Bethany Baughey-Gill began a gargantuan project inputting names of Normal Training School/Campus School students from a box of handwritten Bellingham School District attendance records two years ago.  Megan Kreuger joined the effort last year.  In total, about 1000 living alumni were located out of 9,000 names in the records.  Mary Anderson, anthropology, worked on researching background for a tour of the Campus School.  Megan Kreuger is finishing the handouts.  We hope to have more students involved in designing age appropriate activities for children to coincide with the exhibit and with leading tours during the reunion.

WWU faculty and staff:

Marian Alexander, Susan Bakse, Tamara Belts, Amy Cloud, Paul Cocke, John Dlouhy, Kimberly Caulfield, Bela Foltin, Michael Henniger, Donna Janigo, Violet Malone, Carole Morris, Stephanie Salzman, Angela Vandenhaak

Ann Hanson (CS alumna): for her original art that will appear on various reunion items
