Associate Professor
Coordinator, Certificate in Community &
Technical College Teaching
Stan is currently an Associate Professor
at Woodring College of Education. He received his Ph.D. from
the University of California, Berkeley, where he
studied postsecondary policy and literacy
education. His interest in community
college education grew from his experience as a
student at Sacramento City College and as
adjunct faculty in Bay Area colleges.
After graduating, Stan accepted a postdoctoral
fellowship at Teachers College/ Columbia
University, where he taught courses in
postsecondary instruction. Then, over the next
four years, he served as an assistant professor
in Curriculum & Instruction at the University of
Wisconsin, Madison. Stan is happy to be
back on the West Coast, where he is most
enthusiastic about Washington colleges and
cold-water fishing.

Deb Nelli |
Deb Nelli
Instructor
Debora Nelli is an instructor in Woodring College of Education‘s Continuing and College Education (CCE) program.
In fall 2012 she received her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Portland State University, where she studied postsecondary, adult and continuing education.
Nelli’s research focuses on the socialization of graduate students as educational leaders with a special interest in gender, class and ethnicity issues in
postsecondary settings. While a doctoral candidate at Portland State University she was a frequent guest lecturer on gender issues in education. She has taught
English as a second language (ESL) to immigrants and trained and mentored volunteer ESL teachers at community nonprofit literacy agencies.
Nelli has also been a licensed massage practitioner for the past 16 years and is active in the continuing professional development of fellow massage practitioners through teaching classes,
workshops and writing research literacy articles as a columnist for Washington Massage Therapy Association Journal.
As a 2005 alumni of the CCE program, Nelli is delighted to be back on campus enjoying the abundance of natural beauty in the Bellingham area.

Sherry Haskins
Program Coordinator for CCE/SAA
Department of Educational Leadership
Sherry has worked for Western since 1997.
She transferred to the Department of Educational
Leadership in December 2001 and has managed CCE
program support responsibilities since then.
