Dr. Sandra Daffron

Dr. Sandra Daffron
Program Director/Bellingham Advisor

Assistant Professor

Sandra is currently an Assistant Professor at Woodring College of Education. She received her Ed.D. from Northern Illinois University in Adult and Continuing Education, her MS in Special Education from Southern Illinois University and her BS in Home Economics Education at Eastern Illinois University. Her interest area is continuing professional education which comes from 25 years of teaching and training professional groups of judges, lawyers, teachers, physicians, Army trainers and teachers of correctional education.  Prior to coming to Western, Sandra was Chief of Party of a Rule of Law Project for USAID for two years in Palestine, Executive Director and Vice President of the American Judicature Society, professor of graduate programs in adult education for Virginia Commonwealth University and Northern Illinois University, Assistant Dean for IIT Chicago Kent College of Law and a faculty trainer for the Medical College of Virginia. Sandra's early career as a special education teacher and a teacher and teacher trainer of adult basic education set the stage for her interest in continuing education.

Dr. Stan Goto

Assistant Professor

Coordinator, Certificate in Community & Technical College Teaching

Stan is currently an Assistant Professor at Woodring College of Education. He received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, where he studied postsecondary policy and literacy education.  His interest in community college education grew from his experience as a student at Sacramento City College and as adjunct faculty in Bay Area colleges.  After graduating, Stan accepted a postdoctoral fellowship at Teachers College/ Columbia University, where he taught courses in postsecondary instruction.  Then, over the next four years, he served as an assistant professor in Curriculum & Instruction at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.  Stan is happy to be back on the West Coast, where he is most enthusiastic about Washington colleges and cold-water fishing.

Dr. Susan Mancuso

Dr. Susan Mancuso
Associate Professor

Susan is currently an Associate Professor at Woodring College of Education. She received her Ed.D. from the  University of Washington, her M.A. in Sociology from WWU and earned a B.A. in Anthropology from UCLA. Since 1995, she has served as the Chair of the Department of Educational Leadership and is an active faculty member in Student Affairs Administration and Continuing and College Education.  Prior to coming to WWU, Susan was the VP/Dean of Student Affairs at Whatcom Community College, and was a community college administrator and faculty for 22 years.  Her special focus in the CCE program is adult learning, adult higher education and community colleges.

Sherry has worked for Western since 1997.  She transferred to the Department of Educational Leadership in December 2001 and manages the administrative responsibilities of the program.  She is an excellent resource if you have any questions.
