Course Descriptions

CCE 518 Current Issues: Instructional Technology (1 credits)
Introductory exploration of how instructors can use various electronic technologies for instructional purposes in community and technical colleges. Taken concurrently with CCE 580.

CCE 542 Classroom Management (2 credits)
Understand legal rights and responsibilities of students and faculty. Develop techniques for dealing with ethical and behavioral dilemmas experienced both inside and outside the classroom. Taken concurrently with CCE 592.

CCE 556 The Community College (3 credits)
History, objectives, organization, and role of the public community college; special attention to the expanding system in the State of Washington.

CCE 577 Learning in Adulthood (4 credits)
Study of the ways adults learn and the factors related to their motivation, participation, and achievement. Application of theory to practice.

CCE 580 Effective Teaching (5 credits)
Study and practice in effective teaching strategies and assessment for post-secondary and continuing education settings. Special emphasis on facilitating student learning and applied classroom practice. Taken after CCE 577.

CCE 592 Teaching Internship (4 credits)
Teaching internship at a community/technical college and seminar to support the internship experience. Students will teach or co-teach a college course for a quarter, develop a course syllabus and lessons, and assess student work. Taken after CCE 577, CCE 580, CCE 518.
