Professional Administrator Certification

 

 

 

APPLY FOR SUMMER 2008

 
Objective

Designed for Washington educators who hold a residency administrator certificate and have two years experience in an administrative role.

 
Eligibility
  1. Valid residency principal or program administrator certificate.

  2. Two years' experience in a certificated administrator position.

Program Attributes

Standards Based:

Program content, learning outcomes, performances and assessments are centered on the ISLLC Standards for School Leaders and the Professional Certification Benchmarks.

Job Embedded:

Program process and products are aligned with the candidate's current position, with a focus on positive impact on student learning.

Conveniently Located:

Program seminars are available at four sites: Bellingham, Everett, Seattle and Bremerton.

 
Curriculum: 7-15 credits

The following courses are required for Washington State professional administrator certification; tuition for the 2007-08 academic year is $240/credit.

  1. EDAD 581 Entry Seminar (3cr)
  2. EDAD 582 Core Seminar (2-10cr)
  3. EDAD 583 Culminating Seminar (2cr)

Prospective candidates are invited to explore program options at our entry seminar for the Fall 2008 cohort.

Application Procedure

All applicants must complete the Graduate School online application. This secure process includes credit card payment of a $50 application fee and instructions for providing the following materials:

  1. Official Transcripts: Two from the institution that awarded your master's degree. If you previously attended WWU, it is not necessary to provide WWU transcripts or other transcripts previously submitted to WWU.

  2. Résumé outlining your education and professional history.

  3. One copy of valid Washington State certificate (residency principal or residency program administrator).

  4. Prerequisite Experience for a Professional Administrator's Certificate (OSPI Form)

  5. Candidate Information Form

Application Deadline: June 1

Admission to this cohort program is offered once a year; starting term is Summer. To receive full consideration for admission, applicants must submit all application materials by the deadline.

Applications will not be forwarded to the department for review until all required materials have been received by the Graduate School.
