As part of the admission process, all students
accepted into Woodring College of Education Teacher Education Programs
are required to fulfill three requirements:
Fingerprinting and a State Patrol/FBI background check
This process begins once students
are accepted into the program.
They are required to get the necessary paperwork from the
Woodring Certification Office (MH 216) or file them electronically
at this website:
http://www.wce.wwu.edu/Resources/Certification/CFReq/ and have completed by the
beginning of their first quarter in Woodring.
Once cleared through the FBI, the clearance is good for two
years and will need to be redone in order to remain valid through
internship and receipt of permanent certificate.
Sexual Harassment Prevention Training
The first training session of about one and
one-half hours is required of all students accepted into the
program. The training
is available for 2-3 weeks at the beginning of each
quarter on an online Blackboard unit.
This unit
focuses particularly on Sexual Harassment Prevention as it is related
to education. Students
must complete this requirement in order to register for education
classes for the
following quarter. Check
with the Teacher Education Admissions Office (MH 206) for directions
on completing this unit.
Effective
Fall 2005, all students will be required to complete the second
Sexual Harassment Prevention Training prior to their student
teaching experience. For more information on the dates of this
training, contact Jennifer McCleery in the Office of Field
Experiences at 360-650-3309.
Blood Borne Pathogens Training
As part of a new student orientation, attend a
presentation (only held once on the day before classes start each
quarter) on the transmission of disease through contact with blood,
presented by a nurse from the Bellingham Public School District.
Students must complete this requirement in order to register for the
following quarter.
