Elementary Education Orientation: TBA

You are entering the exciting and challenging career of educating children.  There are requirements, training and workshops that you must complete on a timely basis. Please make yourself aware of them and follow the directions in your acceptance letter.

As part of the admission process, students accepted into all Woodring Teacher Education Programs are required to fulfill these requirements as soon as they are accepted:

  1. Fingerprinting with a Washington State Patrol/FBI background check - Students are required to go to this website for information: http://www.wce.wwu.edu/Resources/certification/CFReq   Once you are cleared through the FBI, the clearance is good for two years.  It will need to be redone in order to remain valid through internship and receipt of your permanent certificate.  Fingerprinting receipts are to be turned in before you will be allowed to register for elementary education classes.

  2. Character and Fitness Questionnaire - This questionnaire is to be turned in no later than two weeks before the start of the admissions quarter.  Forms and information are available at: http://www.wce.wwu.edu/Resources/certification/CFReq  Additional information and/or paperwork is available from the Woodring Teacher Certification Office (MH 216).

  3. Sexual Harassment Prevention I - training available on-line only at beginning of each quarter (see your program acceptance letter for directions).

  4. Blood-Borne Pathogens Training (see box above for dates), offered at beginning of each quarter only.

All students entering our program will be responsible for completing these requirements prior to registration for classes in their first quarter.  You will also be meeting with Ellen Kreider, Program Manager, prior to registration to begin a proposed plan of study.  She will show you how to complete this form and help you with advising. She will also direct you in getting overrides for ELED classes prior to registration.  Click here to go to the directions page for filling out the plans of study.

All new students must also join the ELED list serve immediately on acceptance in order to keep up with the latest information in the department.  You must use your WWU email account for this list serve.  To subscribe, send a one-line message of:
