Teachers,
Education students, and TESOL
students, come and explore specific issues and
challenges related to culturally responsive literacy
curriculum that promotes continual and successful
teaching, learning, and assessment for students who
migrate within or immigrate to the United States. We’ll
compare educational structures in Mexico and in the
United States related to literacy learning as
participants develop research-based practices that can
be directly incorporated into your classrooms. Even
those with limited Spanish proficiency will leave with
an increased level of classroom Spanish and tools (and
practice) to both assess levels of literacy and to
design appropriate literacy instruction.
