Transfer Students
Who is a transfer student?
You are a transfer student if you attempted college credit after graduation from high school or earning your GED (excluding credit earned during the summer after high school graduation). If you earned college credits while also fulfilling high school requirements (e.g., through the Running Start program), you will be considered a freshman for admissions purposes and will need to fulfill the requirements for freshman admission, even if you earned an associate degree while in high school.
If you earned (or are working towards) a direct transfer Associate of Arts degree (DTAA) from a Washington State community college, you will generally be considered a transfer student.
IMPORTANT: If you do not have or are not
currently in the process of completing a DTAA (AA degree) prior
to coming to Western Washington University, then it is in your
best interest to first request a General University Requirements
(GUR) evaluation prior to applying. This will help
determine whether you should complete university GUR
requirements through the university or at your community
college:

Applying to the University
Transfer students submit two applications at the same time:
- A university transfer student application is submitted to WWU Admissions Office, as shown below.
- A program application is submitted to the Human Services program, as shown below.
IMPORTANT -
Before submitting an application, be sure you contact each college or university previously attended and request electronic official transcripts be sent to WWU Admissions. If electronic transcripts are not available, official transcripts must be mailed by the other institution(s) directly to Western Admissions address listed below.
Where transfer students would like to attend courses determines the correct transfer student WWU application to use. Both applications should be submitted at the same time, but to the separate locations as listed on each application, and as shown below:
