Applying to the Human Services Program
Transfer and Returning Students must also apply to the university. Before you apply to the program, please make sure that you have visited the appropriate section below that best describes you:
- Transfer Student
- Former Student Returning (FSR)
- Current WWU Students do not reapply to WWU*
Contact the Program Coordinator at the program location you plan on attending courses at, and confirm your intent to apply to the program. Be sure to mention if you are a current WWU student, transfer student or former student returning to WWU.
The Human Services Program Application Packet
Note: all HS program application forms are available online below with the exception of the fingerprinting card which must be picked up at your intended program site, or mailed to you (see #1 below for details). Contact the Program Coordinator at the program location you plan on attending to request that it be mailed to you.A complete application to the program consists of:
- Evidence of fingerprinting. Prior to submitting your program application, obtain a Washington State Patrol Fingerprinting Card from the Program Coordinator at the program location you plan on attending, or request that it be mailed to you. You must then get fingerprinted, following these instructions. Staple the receipt obtained at the time of fingerprinting to the Criminal Conviction Disclosure form in step #6 below.
- Human Services Program Application.
- A three-page, double-spaced Essay as described in the Human Services Program Application. Written essays are reviewed for both substance and composition/grammar.
- Professional Expectations Agreement. See related Essential Functions requirements.
- Technology Self Assessment Statement form.
- Criminal Conviction Disclosure form with proof of fingerprinting receipt stapled to it (see step #1 above). Most prior convictions do not prevent someone from entering the program. Prohibited Convictions.
Consideration is given to all eligible candidates; however, admission to the program is competitive and not guaranteed. If you do not meet minimum Human Services Program admission requirements described in the current official university catalog, a petition may be filed with the Department. Please speak with the Program Coordinator at the site you are applying to for details.
Submit the completed program application as directed below, depending upon where you intend to take classes.

Submit your completed Human Services program application packet and any required WWU application (transfer an returning students only; current WWU students do not reapply to WWU) at the same time, but to separate locations, as indicated below:
