Degree Programs


Western Washington University offers three degrees with an emphasis in instructional technology:

  • A Masters of Education (M.Ed.) in Continuing and College Education with an emphasis in
    Instructional Design and Web-based Learning (IDWL).
     
  • A Masters of Education (M.Ed.) in Educational Administration with an
    emphasis in Leadership in School Technology (LiST).
     
  • A Masters of Education (M.Ed.) in Advanced Classroom Practice with a focus in Instruction Technology. Note: We are currently not accepting new applications for this program.

Sample programs of study in Continuing and College Education and Educational Administration are listed below. The program you and your advisor create may be different. The Continuing and College Education program allows students to take comprehensive examinations in place of a thesis. The number of credits may vary from these samples.

It is possible to obtain a supported endorsement in Instructional Technology, while completing your M.Ed., by taking 24 credits of instructional technology courses over five areas of study.
 

Continuing and College Education: Emphasis in Instructional Design and Web-based Learning (Sample)

This program is intended for students who wish to get a M.Ed. that specializes in Continuing and College Education. The recommended sample below is designed for a student who wants an emphasis in Instructional Design and Web-based Learning. The minimum required in this program is 49 credits.

Educational Administration: Leadership in School Technology

This program is intended for students who wish to get a M.Ed. that specializes in Educational Administration. Admission to this program assumes the student to be previously certified to teach. The sample below is designed for a student who wants an emphasis in Leadership in School Technology. The minimum required in this program is 52 credits.
