CERTIFICATE IN Rehabilitation Services

The WWU Graduate Program in Rehabilitation Counseling offers a post accalaureate certificate of completion designed to assist individuals in acquiring national or state certification. This program can assist an individual in meeting the educational requirements for the Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) credential or for other employment-related requirements in specific work settings.  The certificate program consists of 12 to 18 credits, chosen by the student from among the offerings applicable to the requirements they are seeking to meet  Many of the courses are available in a distance format.  Others meet one evening a week at our program site, currently in Mountlake Terrace, Washington and moving to Everett in June 2008.

Students may choose from the following courses:

Prospective students are encouraged to contact their employer or the certifying body to which they plan to apply in order to verify which classes they need to take.  For the CRC you can contact the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (www.crccertification.com, telephone 847-944-1325) to determine what requirements are applicable in your specific situation.  At a minimum, you will be required to submit an application, demonstrate that you meet the work requirement, and take the CRC examination.

For an admissions packet or if you have questions, e-mail Alexa Burns at RC.Info@wwu.edu or call  425-771-7429.

MANY Classes are offered in INTERNET-BASED FORMAT

Each term, the program offers at least one course via the Internet.   The University utilizes a system called Blackboard to deliver its internet-based courses. Students must have knowledge of computers and take a self-study tutorial to familiarize themselves with Blackboard prior to taking any courses through the Graduate Program in Rehabilitation Counseling. For the self-study tutorial, go to the Blackboard Tutorial and follow the instructions.

TRANSFERRING CREDITS TOWARD A MASTER'S DEGREE

The courses offered through the Certificate program are the same ones offered as part of  the Masters program; students who enter the Certificate program and later decide to apply for the Masters program may transfer up to a total of nine credits, from all sources, toward their masters degree.
