Background
After
receiving
her Master's
degree, Dr.
Swett worked
as a
Vocational
Rehabilitation
Counselor
for the
State of
Nebraska for
three years.
In addition
to a general
caseload,
she was the
liaison with
the local
rehabilitation
hospital and
was actively
involved on
the
rehabilitation
team for
both the
inpatient
and
outpatient
programs.
The caseload
at the
rehabilitation
hospital
consisted of
individuals
with
traumatic
brain
injuries,
spinal cord
injuries,
stroke, and
multiple
sclerosis.
Upon
completing
her Doctoral
degree, Dr.
Swett joined
the faculty
at the
University
of Florida's
Department
of
Rehabilitation
Counseling.
During her 4
years at UF,
she taught
undergraduate
courses in
Rehabilitation
Services,
graduate
courses in
Rehabilitation
Counseling,
and doctoral
courses in
Rehabilitation
Science.
Dr. Swett
joined the
Graduate
Rehabilitation
Counseling
program in
2004 and
took on the
role of the
program's
director in
2005.
Areas
of Focus,
Research/Projects
Interests
Dr.
Swett's
research
interests
are
vocational
issues and
barriers to
employment
for people
receiving
SSI and
SSDI;
vocational
issues and
barriers to
employment
for people
with chronic
disabilities,
especially
spinal cord
injury,
traumatic
brain
injury, and
multiple
sclerosis;
and program
evaluation
and research
design.

Beth
and her
husband Nick
have two
children,
Rob and
Kari, and
two dogs,
Buzz and
Jade.
The family
enjoys the
great
outdoors of
the
Northwest.
The Swetts
are also
avid Packers
fans and are
members of
the
Northwest
Packer
Backers
club.

She is the

Alexa worked
for the
Colorado
Division of
Vocational
Rehabilitation
for over 25
years,
starting as
a
rehabilitation
counselor
and
completing
that career
as the
Administrator
of Personnel
Development.
She has a
married daughter who
lives in
Boulder,
where she is working
toward a
Master's
degree in
Criminal
Justice.

in Everett,
Washington,
with her
dog,
Jasmine, who
is a miniature
poodle/toy
poodle mix
(aka the
JazzManiac).
