Admission
to the Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education graduate program is
selective. A maximum of 15 students will be selected annually. The
selection committee actively seeks those applicants who have an
orientation to higher education, student affairs service and programming,
diversity, collaborative learning, and an engaged educational experience. Application

The

including the specific SAA requirements outlined in the next section,
should be submitted directly to the WWU Graduate School.
- A completed application form and application fee payment. The
graduate school provides the form online in Portable Document
Format (.pdf). You need to have a copy of
Adobe Acrobat Viewer in order to download or print the file(s):
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited
college or university.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA in the last 90 quarter or
60 semester hours of study.
- Three current references. The reference form is also available
online in Portable Document Format (.pdf) through the graduate
school. Alternatively, letters of reference that address items on the
reference form can be submitted.
-
Miller Analogies Test (M.A.T.) or the Graduate Record
Examination (G.R.E.) results for the general test - current within
the past 5 years. No test scores are required if the applicant
holds an advanced degree.

After admissions
applications are evaluated by the SAA Admissions Committee, a select
number will be invited for a campus interview with the Committee (a phone
interview can be arranged as an alternative for those at a distance). The
interview is the final phase of the admissions process as we assemble a
cohort of students each year. It is one of six elements we consider as
applicants are reviewed for admission to the program.
Those elements are
1) previous academic performance (grade point average), 2) relevant
experience, 3) statement of career interest, 4) letters of reference, 5)
MAT or GRE score, and 6) the interview. Each of these elements is
important and together provide us a composite view of your potential for
success in both the program and in the field of Student Affairs.
