Internship

Overview

The opportunity to work with practicing professionals and to accomplish learning objectives in a specific area of student affairs is a vital component of the program. The nine-month, in-depth internship is offered in two parts: a one-hour integration seminar one day a week, and 12-15 hours a week in a student affairs office of the student's choice. This special opportunity truly makes the Woodring SAA program unique. Through the internship, students are encouraged to:

  • Integrate theory into practices of student affairs work.

  • Learn practical skills such as: collaboration, understanding campus culture, problem solving, program planning, and workshop instruction.

  • Begin building a professional network.

  • Try new skills and ideas.

  • Develop specific knowledge and skills transferable to various student affairs positions.

Faculty work closely with students during the summer quarter to select an internship position that meets each person's interest and situation.
