Middle Level Humanities Endorsement


Additional Endorsement – Humanities – Middle Level
(30-38 credits)

This additional endorsement program must be accompanied by the professional preparation program in secondary education, and preparation for an English Language Arts or Social Studies endorsement. Professional education program admission, completion, and teacher certification requirements are provided within this Secondary Education section of the catalog.

Secondary education students who complete this program will build on their preparation for an English Language Arts or Social Studies endorsement to earn an additional endorsement in Middle Level-Humanities. The Middle Level-Humanities endorsement authorizes assignment to these core academic subjects and an integrated language arts/social studies core block classroom in the middle and junior high school.

Option I

Social Studies Endorsement

See the Social Studies Education section of the catalog for majors leading to an endorsement in Social Studies. Students earning the Middle Level-Humanities additional endorsement under Option I should include HIST 111 in their selection of history courses for the Social Studies endorsement.

English Language Arts Endorsement

WEST-E/Praxis II Test

Candidates must pass two WEST-E/Praxis II tests required for the Middle-Level-Humanities endorsement.  These tests are in addition to the WEST-E Praxis II test required for a first endorsement in either English Language Arts or Social Studies.  Refer to the WEST-E /Praxis II Resource Site for further information:
