Woodring
College
of
Education
offers a
Master's
of
Education
in
Advanced
Classroom
Practice.
Candidates
are
admitted
to a
cohort
each
fall
quarter
and
progress
sequentially
through
six core
courses
and
approximately
six
focus
courses.
Focus
areas
are
Elementary
Education
Literacy,
Special
Education
and
Instructional
Technology.
The
program
focuses
on
teaching
and
learning
research
from an
interdisciplinary
perspective.
Topics
are
pertinent
to the
professional
context
of
teaching
and
working
in
schools
through
integrated
study.
Candidates
will be
challenged
to go
beyond
their
personal
experience
to
embrace
the
knowledge-base
of the
profession
in order
to
enhance
positive
impact
on P-12
student
learning.
Some
courses
in the
program
may
fulfill
Professional
Certification
requirements.
Core
courses:
Introduction
to
Educational
Research,
Learning
and
Instruction,
Designing
Instruction
&
Selecting
Technologies
for
Learning,
Philosophical
Inquiry
and
Practice,
Creating
Classrooms
for
Learning,
and
Action
Research.
Focus
courses:
Selected
through
advisement
with a
focus
area
advisor.
Admission
Requirements:
Two
years of
teaching
Experience,
a
minimum
grade
point
average
of 3.0,
MAT or
GRE
scores,
and
three
letters
of
recommendation.
