Technology Demonstration Center


Woodring College of Education's Technology Demonstration Center (TDC) consists of 3 labs in the basement of Miller Hall. The center's facilities include a full lab of 30 video-editing capable iMacs, another lab of 30 full-featured Dell PCs, and a help desk and testing center specifically designed to assist Instructional Technology (IT) students with their projects. The help desk is staffed by knowledgeable student consultants who assist students with questions as well as check out various pieces of equipment and administer IT344's Media Proficiency test. Miller Hall 75, where the help desk is located, also houses the laser printer which serves all 3 labs, as well as several multimedia PCs and Macs for software testing purposes.

In addition, Woodring has an extensive library of instructional software. The software library has over 1500 titles that include materials organized by type of machine, subject, and grade level. These materials range from computer-assisted instruction, to student and teacher tools, to interactive multimedia.

Instructional Technology Computer Labs

Miller Hall 66

Located in the basement of Miller Hall, this lab contains 30 iMacs equipped with 500Mhz PowerPC G3 processors, 256MB of RAM, USB and firewire ports, and DVD-ROM drives. They have the latest version of OS X (version 10.3 Panther) and several multimedia applications from Adobe and Macromedia. The iMacs in this lab are equipped with Apple's iMovie software for simple movie authoring. These iMacs also have Microsoft Office installed

Miller Hall 72

Adjacent to Miller Hall 66 in the basement, this lab has 30 black Dell PCs with 1.0 Ghz Pentium III processors and 256MB of RAM. Along with Windows XP Professional, each of these PCs features the latest version of Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop and Premiere, and a variety of other useful software titles. These PCs also have built in USB and firewire ports as well as DVD-ROM drives and 17" monitors.

Miller Hall 75

Miller Hall 75 is home to the Technology Demonstration Center (TDC) and help desk. Located just across the hall from Miller Hall 72, this is where the printer for the two labs is found. Along with the help desk and the printer, MH75 also houses the equipment for IT344's Media Proficiency test. There are 2 Macintosh PowerPC G3 machines connected to scanners in this lab. A portable USB scanner and color printer are available for checkout along with external CD burners for both Mac and PC, external USB Zip Drives, headsets with microphones, and firewire cables to connect digital video cameras to computers. Friendly lab consultants are always available for help.
