SUBMISSIONS GUIDE

The Journal of Educational Controversy, is a  peer-refereed journal, published semiannually by the Center for Educational Pluralism of the Woodring College of Education at Western Washington University. The journal publishes primarily original essays in response to the dilemma or controversy announced in the theme for the issue. Readers are invited to submit articles (any length up to 7500 words) as well as reactions and commentary (up to 1500 words) on the articles previously published for our Rejoinder Section.  The latter will also undergo a refereed process and will be published on an ongoing basis as long as the conversation continues.

The Journal of Educational Controversy raises controversies that result from teaching and learning in a pluralistic, democratic society. Contributions from all disciplines are welcomed. Authors should submit reflective, high quality essays that respond to the dilemma with the tools of their discipline, but written in a way that the general audience outside of their discipline can understand.

Contributors to the Journal of Educational Controversy should submit manuscripts electronically as e-mail attachments according to the following requirements:

  • files should be in Microsoft Word format or alternatively in “Rich Text Format”
  • do not use the Space Bar or Tab key for horizontal alignment
  • use the Enter key between paragraphs, not within paragraphs

Please contact the editor about other formats.

References should comply with the APA style manual. (Publication Manual (5th Edition) of the American Psychological Association.)  See http://www.apastyle.org/. Number notes consecutively in the text, but place the notes themselves at the end and not within the text or at the foot of each page.

Manuscripts should be submitted to CEP-eJournal@wwu.edu. Please include "JEC Submission" on the subject line.

The Journal for Educational Controversy is currently expanding its databank of reviewers. If you are interested in being considered as a reviewer for the journal, contact the editor. Please provide a vita with your areas of expertise and interests, institutional affiliation, and a listing of your publications.
