Professional Teacher Certification

Step One: Click on the following documents, complete all entries in the form fields, and print. Or, print the documents and complete them manually.

• Institutional Application for a Teacher’s Certificate

• Verification of Good Standing for Certificates Held in Other States (if you hold or have held an educator certificate in another state)

Step Two: Submit the following documents to the Contact listed below.

• The documents listed under Step One

• Your current original Residency teacher certificate

Step Three: Submit the Teacher Certificate Fee Payment Schedule and a $60 check to the WWU Cashier per the instructions.

Application Process

Upon receipt of your application, a 180-day Residency Teacher (Renewal) professional education permit will be issued. The certificate will be generated by the Office of Superintendent of Instruction and sent to WWU within about two months. We will forward the certificate on to you. It will be valid for a period of two years considering the state’s uniform certificate expiration date of June 30. During this time you will need to complete the Professional certificate program.
