Endorsement Programs
WEST-E Test Resource Site
What is the WEST-E Test?
Washington State requires teacher candidates and teachers adding
endorsements to pass the Washington Educator Skills Test -
Endorsements (WEST-E) subject knowledge test for each
endorsement. Western Washington University teacher candidates must
pass the WEST-E for each endorsement to be earned with a teacher
certificate as a condition for entering the student teaching
internship.
Which WEST-E Test should I take?
Washington State is implementing new WEST-E tests aligned with
revised endorsement competencies, in three phases. Phase I
New WEST-E tests
are available in fall 2008. Phase II New WEST-E
tests - Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education,
and Special Education will be
available in fall 2009. Phase III World Languages (French, German, Spanish)
will be available starting January 2010.
Refer to the
New WEST-E
Implementation Schedule & Exceptions.
Some students will need to pass the current
WEST-E/Praxis II test to
qualify for endorsement during the implementation period.
New WEST-E Test
Phase I New WEST-E tests administered by Evaluation Systems
Group of Pearson are now available for the WWU
endorsement areas listed below. Passing scores will be validated in
late November, 2008. The test session includes about five (5)
hours of actual testing time. Multiple tests or subtests may be taken during
a test session. Link to the Washington Education Skills Test
