A PERFORMANCE OF DANGER, BOOKS
Book-It Touring Stories 8th Annual Encore Performance!

Danger: Books! A Celebration of Intellectual Freedom

Danger: Books! is a series of readings from books that have been banned and challenged in the United States. Every year, we offer a brand new selection of readings. Past programs have included excerpts from The Lord of the Flies, Beloved, The Lorax, Geography Club, Dracula, Baby Be-bop, and Go Ask Alice. Readings are presented in the "Book-It Style" by a group of professional actors, who perform the most controversial sections from the books, then facilitate a discussion on the First Amendment and how and why books are banned and challenged.

Sponsored by the Journal of Educational Controversy, Woodring College of Education, Fairhaven CollegeCollege of Fine and Performing Arts,  Political Science Department, Wilson Library, Whatcom Day Academy, American Civil Liberties Union, United Faculty of Western Washington, and the WWU Faculty Senate Academic Freedom Task Force.
