Holocaust Poetry
Written by the 6th grade students of NEH participant, Diane Leigh, at Kendall Elementary School
Ms. Leigh's unit
on Holocaust education included the reading of several historical fictional
stories, the creation of a timeline of events, the reading of several
testimony stories, discussion of Holocaust poetry from "I Never Saw
Another Butterfly," the reading of the photographic essay book
"The Children We Remember," hosting a local Holocaust survivor
into the classroom, playing of the game Dreidel, the reading of a story by
Andre Trocme, viewing of a video about Le Chambron, and discussions of
activities, literature, and applications of lessons to own
lives.
