Holocaust Poetry

Written by the 6th grade students of NEH participant, Diane Leigh,  at Kendall Elementary School

Ms. Leigh's unit on Holocaust education included the reading of several historical fictional stories, the creation of a timeline of events, the reading of several testimony stories, discussion of Holocaust poetry from "I Never Saw Another Butterfly," the reading of the photographic essay book "The Children We Remember," hosting a local Holocaust survivor into the classroom, playing of the game Dreidel, the reading of a story by Andre Trocme, viewing of a video about Le Chambron, and discussions of activities, literature, and applications of lessons to own lives.
