The Ghetto

Here, here in the ghetto
So sad, as sad as can be.
I sit in the corner
Looking about me.

There are some children in the other corner
Crying so softly to each other.

Hoping, hoping, hoping,
That things will get better.

The Windows broken about me
Boarded so we can’t see.
They are boarded
Boarded so people can’t see me.

Or people around me
So sad, as sad as can be.

Here, here in the ghetto.
