Holocaust Poetry

I watched sadly as the men took Chelsi away
I wonder where they are taking her
Strong me may approach me
Maybe they will take me where they took her
But instead, they kicked me out of the big
Wooden fence
“Shut up, you dumb dog,” they yell
so sorry I felt it for myself
But when a butterfly flutters by
I realize that I feel sorry for the strong men
For they will feel it in their hearts for the
Rest of their life.

Keeley
6th grade

From the author: “I put ‘butterfly flutters by’ and it calms all of the violence down.  I used mixed up word order when I said ‘so sorry I felt for myself.’  I think that it makes people try to realize what is happening.”
