Holocaust Poetry

Sadness is here.
Sadness is there.
Happiness is here,
But not always there.

In the ghetto, sadness is here and there.
In the ghetto, hunger is here and there.
But happiness is rarely here and rarely there.

Freedom is not there at all.
I wish it was, but wishes don’t always come true.

People sometimes have their wishes come true.
People sometimes don’t have their wishes come true.
I wish, I wish that they do.
I wish.
They wish.
                        We wish.

Rigo
6th grade

From the author:  “I used repetition so people really get the point I am trying to tell them.  And so a lot of people can know what some people wish about.”
