Office of Field Experiences

Welcome to the Office of Field Experiences!

Personnel in the Office of Field Experiences coordinate school-based part-time practica experiences and full-time student teaching internship placements for all students in the Woodring College of Education.

Field experiences are integrated throughout each teacher preparation program with most students involved in school-based experiences starting their first term in the college.  Part-time practica experiences generally occur in geographic locations near your program site while full-time student teaching internships may occur, depending on program requirements, across a broader geographic spectrum within the State of Washington, other U.S. states and overseas. We work closely with our school partners to ensure successful and rewarding placements for all of our candidates.

Field experience requirements, placement options, and length vary by program so you will be guided through your experiences by reviewing your plan of study, consulting your program advisor and OFE personnel and by reviewing information on the OFE website and through the internship information meeting. Please explore this website to find information about your specific program and always feel free to contact OFE personnel if you have any questions.  It is our constant goal to provide you with excellent support throughout all aspects of your field experiences.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Student teaching applications for: Winter 2014, Spring 2014, or Overseas Summer 2014 are due on May 15, 2013.

If you missed one of our application meetings, please contact us (see below) to arrange a meeting. As a reminder, you may not make your own placement or even query a teacher or other school personnel about a placement. All placement requests must originate through this office.
