Eligibility

Students are responsible for monitoring their eligibility for student teaching.  These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Academic Standing

2. Program Requirements

3. Fingerprinting/Character and Fitness Clearance

See Susan Cahill in the Teacher Certification Office, Miller Hall 216, for fingerprint cards and character and fitness information.

4. WEST-E/Praxis II

You must obtain passing test score(s) prior to the start of your internship.  Western Washington University requires submission of passing WEST-E/Praxis II test scores to qualify for the student teaching internship.  Passing test scores must be submitted for all subject areas in which the candidate seeks endorsement as part of the first-issue Residency teacher certificate.  Candidates who fail to submit passing scores by the first day of student teaching will be withdrawn from the internship for that quarter (Elementary Education and Special Education students) or for that semester (Secondary Education students). Any subsequent student teaching placement is subject to the submittal of passing scores and placement availability.  Please visit the Teacher Certification WEST-E/Praxis II Resource Site for more information.
