Overseas Student Teaching Meetings for 2007-2008

Come learn about student teaching overseas and meet past participants!

If you are unable to attend an information meeting, please contact either Nancy Nelson or Jennifer McCleery to discuss this option.

Carefully Consider

If you would like to student teach in a unique setting and increase your ability to work with a new curriculum, try new strategies, learn a new culture, and potentially work with numerous English-language learners, then you may be interested in an overseas student teaching placement.

Schools, cultures, learning expectations, academic standards, etc. make this a different experience and one that requires flexibility, independence, strong people skills, an open-mind, and the ability to make adjustments. Please do not expect an overseas school to be similar to a Washington public school – they are not.  If you desire an internship in a school that is similar, a stateside placement will probably be your best choice.

However, overseas placements are a viable choice, but not for every intern.  Consider carefully what you would like to learn from your internship, what type of experiences you would like, what your long-term professional goals are, and then make a decision (stateside or overseas) that is most aligned to enhancing your effectiveness as an educator.
