- Applicants must be
students admitted to the Woodring College of Education Human Services
Program at time of application.
- Applicants must have
demonstrated financial need (statement of why financial support is critical
to educational goals).
- Applicants must have
demonstrated academic performance in the Human Services major.
- Consideration also may
be given to previous academic performance in courses taken outside of the
Human Services major.
- Résumé listing human services
related internships (including agency/organization, position, type of work,
and timeframe)
- Essay of approximately
500 words describing your educational and human services career goals and
how they honor the community spirit of Jerry House, for whom this award is named. (Click on link

Black American Women Scholarship
|
|
|
| Open to Black American
students who have been accepted for undergraduate or graduate study in the
Woodring College of Education. Preference shall be given to Black
American women. Full-time or part-time students may qualify.
Preference shall be given to students who have been out of school for at
least three years at some point in their academic lives and are over 25
years of age.

Woodring College of Education Alumni
Association Leader Scholarships
Amount: Three $1000 awards
Open to anyone enrolled in a Woodring program who demonstrates
community-based leadership skills. Recipients are recognized for excellence in
academic performance and demonstrated initiative and contributions in the area
of community or public service at the local, state, national, or international
level. Follow the required Woodring scholarship
application process, except: required
essay - submit instead a 500 word essay describing contributions and future
goals in the area of community or public service and recommendations: submit one
from a university representative and one from a community representative.
Woodring Diversity Committee Scholarship
- Applicants must be students
admitted to one of the Woodring’s programs (on or off-campus)
- Applicants must document current and
past activities that demonstrate commitment to working against systemic social
injustice based on ethnicity, race, gender, age, disAbility, sexual orientation,
language, socio-economic status, national origin, or religion. Examples
include, but are not limited to: membership in a group, participating in events
or conferences, class presentations, mentoring, volunteer work or work
experience.
- Applicants must submit an essay of
approximately 500 words that discusses the insights gained while engaged in work
against systemic social injustices. This essay should also include the
applicant’s plans for continued work in this area.
- Applicants must provide letters from
two individuals (teachers, college faculty, community leaders, or other mentors)
that document the work done by the applicant and discuss the impact this work
has had on others.
- Applicants must demonstrate
financial need.
- Consideration also may be given to
previous academic performance

Amount: Varies
The Students in Service program offers each student member
the opportunity to choose one of three terms of service (essentially,
the number of hours s/he agrees to serve). Upon successful completion of
a term of service, members are eligible to receive an Education Award
(scholarship), which can be applied towards outstanding student loans or
the cost of attendance at a college or university.

Bob Drewel Human Services Scholarhship
The Bob Drewel Human Services
Scholarship is awarded each year to an
individual or individuals who
have dedicated themselves to the service of
others. The scholarship
supports the personal and professional development
of human service workers
and/or volunteers in Snohomish County. For the
academic year of 2008/2009 a
total of $2,000 will be made available.
