Jerry House Human Services Scholarship
Amount: $1000
- Applicants must be students admitted to the Woodring College of Education Human Services Program at time of application.
- Applicants must have demonstrated financial need (statement of why financial support is critical to educational goals).
- Applicants must have demonstrated academic performance in the Human Services major.
- Consideration also may be given to previous academic performance in courses taken outside of the Human Services major.
- Résumé listing human services related internships (including agency/organization, position, type of work, and timeframe)
- Essay of approximately 500 words describing your educational and human services career goals and how they honor the community spirit of Jerry House, for whom this award is named. (Click on link below for more information)
Making a Difference: Future Teachers with Disabilities Scholarship
Applicants must be WWU students with a significant physical disability (including mobility, sight or hearing limitations) who are enrolled or will enroll in a teacher preparation program. This scholarship was created to increase the number of teachers with disabilities in the classroom. It is hoped that this will further the awareness and sensitivity of students at all levels to better understand and to appreciate issues of disability and help create a more inclusive classroom environment that values all differences. Users of wheelchairs or other personal assistive motorized vehicles are among the first to be considered for this scholarship, but all applicants meeting the criteria will be considered.
Settlemyer Scholarship in Woodring College of Education
Available to any student enrolled in any program in Woodring College of Education. No other criteria.
Woodring Diversity Committee Scholarship
Amount: up to $1500
- Applicants must be students admitted to one of the Woodring’s programs (on or off-campus)
- Applicants must document current and past activities that demonstrate commitment to working against systemic social injustice based on ethnicity, race, gender, age, disAbility, sexual orientation, language, socio-economic status, national origin, or religion. Examples include, but are not limited to: membership in a group, participating in events or conferences, class presentations, mentoring, volunteer work or work experience.
- Applicants must submit an essay of approximately 500 words that discusses the insights gained while engaged in work against systemic social injustices. This essay should also include the applicant’s plans for continued work in this area.
- Applicants must provide letters from two individuals (teachers, college faculty, community leaders, or other mentors) that document the work done by the applicant and discuss the impact this work has had on others.
- Applicants must demonstrate financial need.
- Consideration also may be given to previous academic performance

Students in Service
Amount: Varies
The Students in Service program offers each student member the opportunity to choose one of three terms of service (essentially, the number of hours s/he agrees to serve). Upon successful completion of a term of service, members are eligible to receive an Education Award (scholarship), which can be applied towards outstanding student loans or the cost of attendance at a college or university.

Bob Drewel Human Services Scholarship
The Bob Drewel Human Services Scholarship is awarded each year to an individual or individuals who have dedicated themselves to the service of others. The scholarship supports the personal and professional development of human service workers and/or volunteers in Snohomish County.
