Woodring Scholarships For Prospective Woodring Students
The scholarship application period is now open for 2013-2014 academic year awards. The deadline is April 1.
Avis J. Stewart Scholarship
Award: Thirteen awards of $1500
Applicants must be a sophomore or junior for the upcoming fall quarter (from WWU or transferring into WWU) intending to apply or working toward a degree in education through Woodring College of Education. Recipient must be in good academic standing in accordance with Western Washington University guidelines.
Future Teachers of Color Promise Scholarship
Award: $1500, may be renewed with good standing
Woodring College of Education will award several Future Teachers of Color Promise Scholarships for the next academic year to selected students of color whose career goal is to become a classroom teacher. Open to students who will have sophomore or junior status for the upcoming fall quarter (from WWU or transferring into WWU).
NOTE: If you are applying for admission to Woodring any time in the upcoming academic year, you should also apply for other scholarships listed on this website.
Mildred M. Bain Memorial Scholarship
Award: Full tuition for fall, winter, spring quarters
Applicants must be from historically underrepresented groups interested in pursuing a career in P-12 teaching. Eligible underrepresented students will include men intending to enter the Elementary, Early Childhood, and/or Special Education profession(s), first generation college students*, and/or students of color**. Prospective and current teacher education candidates are eligible. Students who will be transferring to Western in the Fall of 2013 for a Woodring College of Education teaching program are also eligible.
