American Association of American
Association of University Women Scholarship
Scholarships are available to men and women students who have at least 135
credits and the equivalent of senior or graduate status.
Awards are made to students with academic achievement and, in general,
only students with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better need apply. Students
should also demonstrate financial need, which will be determined by the
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Associated Students Scholarships
The Associated Students offers twenty-four scholarships to WWU
students who have attended Western for the entire academic year as a full-time
undergraduate student (12 credits or more per quarter) or a full-time Graduate
student (8 credits or more per quarter), will be attending full-time next year
and are in good academic standing. Additionally, there are two Childcare Voucher
awards available, with unique eligibility and application requirements.

Teachers of Science Scholarship
(Science, Math and Technology Education
Center)
Eligible applicants include high school seniors, community college and
university students at any stage of future teacher preparation who have a strong
interest in the sciences and in teaching science. For more information,

Loan Cancellations
Depending on what and where you plan to teach after you graduate, portions or all of
your loans can be cancelled.

Multicultural Achievement Program Continuing (M.A.P.) Scholarship
Amount: Approximately 75 scholarships of a value up to $3,000
Applicants must demonstrate solid academic abilities, strong leadership
qualities, and a commitment to multicultural issues and activities in school or
the community. Financial need will be considered and priority will be given to
those students who demonstrate financial need.
Recipients must enroll for a minimum of twelve (12) credits per quarter.
Students may reapply each year as a continuing Western student. Students
enrolled in self-support programs such as foreign study, human services,
off-campus and selected other programs are not eligible to apply. WWU Dining
Services, The Western Foundation, and tuition waiver programs support MAP
scholarships.

Nahbi Ram Joshi Scholarship
This scholarship was established by one of Western's most devoted patrons,
Miriam Snow Mathes, in memory of Nahbi Ram Joshi, a foreign student who passed
through the University more than 90 years ago. Qualified applicants must be full-time
undergraduate Western Washington University students. New freshmen and transfer
students are eligible to apply. Scholarship applicants must either have been
born in India or have a parent or grandparent born in India and must demonstrate
strong leadership qualities as well as high academic merit.

Patricia Swenson Scholarship
This scholarship was established in honor of Dr. Patricia Louise Green
Swenson, distinguished graduate. This scholarship is for a student demonstrating
academic merit and financial need. Applicants must be currently enrolled,
undergraduate students planning to attend full time. Post-baccalaureate students are not eligible to apply. In general, only
students with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better need apply. Financial need will
be determined by federal programs. To receive a scholarship, students must file
a financial aid form and have enough need for assistance to cover the amount of
the scholarship.

Talbots Women's Scholarship
Sponsored by the Talbots Charitable Foundation, this program awards scholarships
to women wanting to attend college later in life. Eligible applicants are women
currently residing in the United States who earned a high-school diploma or GED
at least ten years ago; are currently seeking a degree from an accredited two or
four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school; and have at least
two full-time semesters or twenty-four credits remaining to complete their
undergraduate degree.

Talitha E. Carleton Scholarship
This scholarship honors a gifted teacher whose strength of
character, humanity and lively mind inspired many. Scholarships are available to
continuing undergraduate or graduate students in the liberal or fine and
performing arts with a grade point average of 3.5 or above in the major area of
study.

Western Foundation Academic Excellence Scholarship
This scholarship program, established in 1994, is supported by
contributors to the Western Foundation's general academic scholarship program
and is intended to recognize students with high academic merit and achievement.
Scholarships are for continuing undergraduates of sophomore, junior or senior
status enrolled full time.. In general, only students with a
minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better need apply.
Post-baccalaureate students are not eligible to apply.

Western Washington University Retirement Association
The Western Washington University Retirement Association (WWURA) offers a
scholarship of $2000 ($666 per quarter) to undergraduate students returning to
university studies after an absence of two years or more. This scholarship
is available to previous students of any university, college, or community
college who has successfully completed a minimum of 45 credits. Those
selected must attend at least half-time (6 credits) per quarter until completion
of program.

Whatcom Educational Credit Union Scholarship
Amount: Two $1,500 awards
Each year Whatcom Educational Credit Union awards a number of scholarships to
deserving student who plan to enroll in degree programs at local schools. These
scholarships will be awarded to full-time students pursuing a degree, with the
equivalent of junior or senior status.
Applicants must demonstrate financial need and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75.
Applicants must be a member in good standing at WECU.

Women of Western Scholarship
The campus-affiliated group, Women of Western, offers scholarships to men and
women students who will have senior status and will be full-time students. Selection is based primarily on academic achievement
(in general only students with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above need apply), but
other criteria, such as financial need, leadership qualities and activities also
are considered. Special consideration may be given to students who are direct
descendants of a member of Women of Western. Two letters of recommendation are
required, at least one of which is from a WWU faculty member, and transcripts
from all colleges and universities attended (unofficial transcripts are
acceptable).
