How To Apply
Eligibility
- Applicants must be upper-division undergraduates* or have a bachelor's degree from an accredited instituition.
- One year of college-level study in a single foreign language or equivalent, preferably completed prior to beginning the program. Language coursework may be taken concurrently with the program.
- Non-native speakers of English are required to have a TOEFL score of 550 or higher, preferably met prior to beginning the program.
- 3.0 GPA preferred. A 3.0 GPA in TESOL coursework is necessary to receive certification.
- Name and phone numbers (including area code) of two academic or
work references who can comment on your ability to work cooperatively
and professionally with diverse populations (attach to statement of
purpose).
*Undergraduate applicants must have junior year status, with a 3.0 GPA.
In addition international students must have:
- Demonstrated academic competency in the English language with a minimum TOEFL score of 550 and an interview with the Program Director to establish oral competency.
How to Apply
Currently admitted Western students need to fill out the
TESOL Program Application only. Applicants who are not currently
admitted to Western will need to fill out the TESOL Program Application
as well as apply to Western for admission. Please contact the TESOL
office for more information.
The application deadline for the Summer Option is
January 15th. The application deadline for the Annual Option is
April 1st. Applications received after the deadlines will be
considered on a space-available basis.
