An M.Ed. Program focused on Educating for Sustainability
Learn about Antioch New England's low-residency M.Ed. in EFS from one of its co-developers. An overview of the program will be provided as well as examples of work master's candidates in the program are doing across the country. With a foundation in courses focused on the principles and practices of EFS, each graduate student conducts an action research master’s project in her or his own school and community to promote and advance sustainability. From an oyster restoration project in the Chesapeake Bay to a school-wide sustainability assessment in Colorado, teachers are making positive change while earning this M.Ed. in EFS. In addition, examples from schools across the country will demonstrate how place-based, inquiry-based problem solving is used to integrate the three E’s in effective EFS. Participants will have the opportunity to brainstorm and discuss possibilities for this in their own schools.
