Engaging Students with Global Sustainability Issues
Global sustainability is an engaging context for teaching core skills and content. In this interactive session, you will experience hands-on lessons and simulations that are immediately applicable and easy to integrate with other curriculum materials. These lessons use an inquiry-based approach that guides students in examining global issues, posing questions, thinking critically, and building upon knowledge through problem-solving, simulations, and action projects. We’ll introduce Facing the Future’s standards-aligned units on sustainability for social studies and science and share our newest resource, Real World Math. Receive free curriculum!

Global Sustainability: An Integrated Context for Learning
Discover models, strategies, and hands-on activities to effectively integrate global sustainability as a contextual framework for teaching core subjects. We’ll explore what sustainability means in the school context and look at a local middle school’s methodology for using the concept to guide the entire school. We'll engage in hands-on activities to bring global sustainability alive. Participants leave with a process for how to initiate a new theme within a school and free sustainability curriculum.
