Setting Up Outlook For Home Use

 

NOTE: If you are using your office laptop at home go directly to #12 below and follow the directions to "Dial Up"

 

Check Network Settings

  1. Right click on Network Neighborhood
  2. Choose Properties
  3. Click on TCP/IP in the list
  4. Click Properties button
  5. Choose WINS Configuration tab
  6. Settings should be as follows:

7a.  If they are not as above

·        Enter the information

·        Click OK

·        Wait while it updates Network settings

·        Reboot machine

·        Go to Add a Profile.

 

7b.  If the settings are correct, go directly to Add a Profile.

 

 

Add a Profile

 

  1. Go to Control Panel
  2. Double-click Mail
  3. Click on Show Profiles
  4. Click on Add
  5. Select Microsoft Exchange Server
  6. Server name:    exchange.cms.wwu.edu
  7. Mailbox name:   your outlook login
  8. Travel with computer?        No
  9. Personal Address Book location, click Next
  10. Do not add to startup. click Next
  11. Click Finish
  12. Dialup to WWU (or your own Internet Service Provider - PLEASE NOTE: If you use your own ISP, like Comcast, you will need to install the Cisco VPN Client to use the full client Outlook)
  13. Start Outlook
  14. Fill in the following:

Login: your login

Domain: wwu

Password: your password

  1. Wait while Outlook retrieves  messages
