Educational Leadership
Established in fall 2003, the Department of Educational Leadership provides Master's programs in educational administration (EdAd), and student affairs administration in higher education (SAA), and continuing and college education (CCE). The department is also home to the ever-growing field of instructional technology (IT). Candidates for degrees or certification in all these fields share a commitment to advancing their knowledge and skills to better serve their students and their communities.
Mission Statement
The Department of Educational Leadership cultivates quality educational leaders for the future by providing a diverse array of undergraduate and graduate degrees and professional programs. Educational transformation requires leaders who can envision a better future and improved practices, and who have leadership qualities and educational skills to facilitate and sustain meaningful learning and change. We collaboratively prepare and empower these highly skilled and knowledgeable leaders to teach adults or children, train adults in the public and private sector, and/or administer superior educational programs. Up-to-date curriculum and teaching practices are student-centered and standards driven with an emphasis on the integration of theory and practice.

Program Descriptions
Continuing and College Education (CCE)
The M.Ed. in Continuing and College Education prepares you for a career to teach, train and administer programs in community and technical colleges, universities, continuing education, non-profit organizations, business and industry.
Educational Administration (EdAd)
The Woodring College of Education's Educational Administration program is designed to prepare elementary or secondary professionals to assume rewarding and challenging leadership roles in a public or private school setting. Program options include: the M.Ed. in Educational Administration with the Residency Principal's Certificate; the Post-Master's Residency Principal's Certificate; the Continuing Principal's Certificate; and the Superintendent's Certificate.
Instructional Technology (IT)
All Woodring students are required to have competence in Instructional Technology. The program provides acquisition or enhancement of that capability including interactive multimedia, distance delivery, online networking and information retrieval, and instructional design using computer technology. Instructional technology concentrations are available in Continuing and College Education, Advanced Classroom Practice, and Educational Administration Master's programs.
Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education (SAA)
The Student Affairs Administration program prepares Master’s candidates to work in a broad array of positions in student affairs administration at colleges and universities. It emphasizes competence in the areas of student development theory and practice; leadership and management; and diversity and cultural awareness. Studies and supervised experiences, including three-quarters of in-depth internship, meet the guidelines of the Council for Advancement of Standards for Student Service/Development.
